At UCA’s School of Fashion we believe research is fundamental to the pursuit of academic excellence and that a growing international research culture is central to our subjects' development - to generate, communicate, and transfer knowledge.
Within the School there are a number of staff members who maintain a high profile at the forefront of their disciplines through exhibitions, publications, conferences, seminars and work with business and the community. This compliments the University’s vibrant and dynamic research culture. The research activities carried out underpin the quality of learning and teaching, fostering an atmosphere of critical enquiry and strengthening our academic profile nationally and internationally.
Here are just a few examples of some research carried out by our staff:
With over 15 years’ experience in research and post graduate studies, Dr Victoria Kelley has an expertise that spans design history, fashion history, material culture and social history. She has produced publications that cover a number of fields, including advertising, branding, retailing and the interactions between material good and social identity in everyday life.
Course Leader for BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles: Print at UCA Rochester, Neil has undertaken research on both national and international levels. His research expertise lies in digital textile design and production. He has been commissioned by the British Museum in London to create a collection of designs involving consultancy with a manufacturer in Italy.
