Margate Reading Room

We place industry partnerships and collaborative working at the centre of our teaching and research. With over 60 years of experience of educating architects and designers and an extensive alumni network, we have connections with some of the UK’s most prominent practices and many innovative and up and coming ones too.

Students benefit in the following ways:

  • Curriculum continually updated to reflect the demands of global architecture and design practices
  • Teaching from staff who practice at leading design firms locally and in London
  • A weekly guest speaker programme, Multistory, bringing leading figures from the worlds of architecture and design
  • Opportunities to work at the studios of our Professor of Architecture, Will Alsop
  • Learning through live and collaborative projects that tackle contemporary issues in the region and internationally
  • Work placements and mentoring at regional practices and in London

In recent years our students have collaborated with the following organisations on live and collaborative projects:

  • Ashford Borough Council
  • Canterbury Cathedral
  • DAD – Dover Arts Development
  • Design South East
  • EU InterReg Funded research projects in England, France and Belgium
  • Folkstone Triennial
