The School of Fine Art & Photography is well known for outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate courses taught by leading exhibiting artists, photographers, published critics and art historians, for more details see the staff profiles.
Our highly committed teaching practitioners inspire students to become the future thinkers, producers and inventors of the arts.
Workshop teaching in large and impressive studio spaces supports a shared culture of research for both students and staff, strongly informing the ethos and identity of the School.
This is founded on strengthening technical skills and individual creative flair. Our aim is to inspire and encourage students to freely question and challenge the boundaries of their practice, exchanging ideas and crossing over into new disciplines and areas of research.
World-renowned artists and photographers are our alumni.
Our campuses house important gallery spaces, each of which has a strong reputation for exhibiting nationally and internationally significant work. Students regularly curate and show their work in these spaces and externally. In fact, the location of all three campuses is within easy travelling time of London and sees staff and students frequently exhibiting in the capital.
Our courses are rich in their own distinctive culture and opportunities, each benefiting from a particular regional creative dynamic. We have high quality resources and facilities, which enable students to be very ambitious in what they seek to achieve, allowing them to reach their maximum potential. Workshops covering everything from bronze casting to time-based practices and supported by highly skilled technical teams, offer wide ranging technical and material opportunities for our students to explore and develop their creative ideas.
Our programme of visiting artists is essential in creating an exciting hub of ideas and debate. Recent visiting artist talks include Gustav Metzger, Marin Creed, Adam Chodzko and Ian Sinclair.
Take a look through our School’s website. My course teams and I will be happy answer any questions you may have about our courses, facilities and the university.
