At UCA’s School of Communication Design we believe professional practice is fundamental to the pursuit of academic excellence and that a growing international research culture is central to our subjects' development - to generate, communicate, and transfer knowledge.
Within the School there are a number of staff members who maintain a high profile at the forefront of their disciplines through exhibitions, publications, conferences, seminars and work with business and the community.
Head of School for Communication Design at UCA
Jamie Dobson is a designer and photographer. He studied Architecture at Kingston University before gaining his masters degree in Communication Design from Central Saint Martins School of Art & Design. He was an architectural lighting designer on projects such as 30 Saint Mary Axe (the Gherkin), Heathrow Terminal 5, Millennium Dome, Royal Festival Hall refurbishment and Saint Pauls Cathedral refurbishment. A change of focus led to work as an independent creative/designer on projects for clients including Adobe, Burberry, Philips, RedBull (Scuderia Toro Rosso F1 Racing), Sony and XL Recordings.
Jamie has given lectures about his design practice in the UK, USA, Taiwan and South Korea.
